AKL - Fergusson Terminal Weather Disruptions & Temporary Closure January 20 2026

Please be advised that the Port of Auckland is closely monitoring adverse weather conditions, particularly strong winds, and is taking all necessary safety precautions in line with standard operating procedures.

Based on the latest forecasts, operational disruptions are expected over the next 36–48 hours, with the most severe conditions anticipated on Wednesday, 21 January.

Confirmed Operational Shutdown

As a result of the forecast conditions, container terminal operations at Fergusson Terminal will be paused during the following period:

  • From: 07:00 Wednesday, 21 January 2026

  • To: 07:00 Thursday, 22 January 2026

All VBS bookings impacted by this confirmed shutdown window will be cancelled accordingly.

Additional Impacts

  • Operations will continue with caution today (Tuesday, 20 January).

  • Depending on weather developments, the shutdown may be extended from 19:00 tonight.

  • A further update will be provided mid-afternoon today should conditions deteriorate or operational plans change.
