# NSW - Sydney – High Winds Causing Empty Depot Closures December 2 2025

Please be advised that **high wind conditions across Sydney** are causing **empty park closures at short notice**. These conditions are expected to continue throughout the day and may significantly impact empty container dehire operations.
### Current Situation
- Multiple empty depots have **closed without notice** due to high wind gusts.
- **All Direct Return Empty (DRE) areas are currently closed.**
- Depots are directing carriers to **alternate off-hire locations** until conditions improve.
- A notification will be issued once operations resume.
### Operational Impact
- KLN will make every effort to **dehire empty containers within the free period** and meet terminal or delivery timeslots.
- However, due to weather-related closures:
- Some empties may need to be **staged back to our yard** (additional charges may apply).
- **Container detention remains the responsibility of the cargo owner** during weather-related shutdowns.
- Time slot cancellations may occur **at short notice** and may incur additional charges.
- Trucks currently en route or onsite at the time of closure may incur **futile charges**.
Our team is monitoring updates from all Sydney empty parks and will provide further information as soon as depots reopen or issue new alerts.
