AKL - Auckland – Auckland – Holiday Period Terminal Operating Hours & KiwiRail Block of Line

Please find below the upcoming terminal and port operating hours for the holiday period, along with an important update regarding the KiwiRail Block of Line.

KiwiRail Block of Line (Major Impact)

Please note the following significant rail disruption:

• Block of Line Start: Wednesday, 24 December 2025 at 19:00

• Block of Line End: Sunday, 18 January 2026 at 18:00

• Impact:

  • No trains will run into the Port of Auckland for the duration of this closure.

  • Normal rail services will resume Monday, 19 January 2026.

Customers moving import or export cargo reliant on rail should plan accordingly, as all movements during this period will need to be transported via road transport.

Import Demurrage – Public Holiday Exemptions

As per the port’s price schedule:

• If your import demurrage free period includes any of the following public holidays, these dates will not be counted toward your free time:

  • 25 December (Christmas Day)

  • 26 December (Boxing Day)

  • 1 January (New Year’s Day)

  • 2 January (Day After New Year’s Day)

Please note:

• Hazardous storage allowable dwell time remains unchanged.

• Reefer power & monitoring charges also remain unchanged.

Fergusson R&D (Receival & Delivery)

• R&D hours may change depending on operational demand.

• An updated notice will be circulated if hours are adjusted.

Multi-Cargo R&D Operating Hours

• Multi-cargo R&D hours are dependent on Shipping Line and stevedore decisions.

• Any changes advised to us by the Shipping Line will be communicated to customers as soon as confirmed.

• Final dates and hours will be confirmed closer to the holiday period.
