WA - Fremantle Rail Bridge Closure & Service Disruptions December 12-14 2025

We wish to advise that the Public Transport Authority (PTA) has confirmed the closure of the Fremantle Rail Bridge this coming weekend. During this period, no train services will operate in or out of NQRT.

Closure Period

• Friday, 12 December (PM) – Sunday, 14 December

• Rail operations will resume Monday, 15 December

Operational Impact on Deliveries

Customers should expect disruptions across the supply chain, including:

• Longer port-to-destination transit times
  → Extended free time on import containers will be essential.

• Limited routing options during business hours
  → Delivery schedules may be pushed out or resequenced.

• Delayed deliveries
  → We kindly ask for flexibility with receiving windows.

• Delayed empty container dehires
  → Flexibility with opening and closing times at delivery sites will help minimise delays.
  → Same-day empty collections may not be feasible.

• Risk of container detention
  → KLN will not be liable for detention arising from this rail shutdown.

Recommended Customer Actions

To minimise potential impacts, we strongly recommend:

1. Start negotiating free time extensions with your shipping lines immediately.
   Containers with fewer than 10 free days are particularly at risk.

2. Advise the KLN Customer Service Team of any extended operating hours for your delivery sites.
   Greater access helps widen delivery windows and improves our ability to return empties.

3. Ensure your stakeholders are aware of the expected delays so alternative arrangements can be made where necessary.
